Micro Droplet and Bubble: Small but Versatile Players in the Microfluidics World

Microfluidic techniques for handling tiny droplets and bubbles have attracted considerable interest and found widespread applications in various academic and industrial fields, such as biology, chemistry, materials, pharmaceuticals, and medicine.

The broad interest in droplet and bubble microfluidics roots in its unique and versatile capabilities, such as i) easy compartmentalization of chemical or biological samples and encapsulation of chemical or biological processes, ii) precise and on-demand handling of micro-objects, such as cells and microorganisms, without any unwanted damage.

This seminar will briefly cover i) fundamental researches for a solid understanding of fluid dynamic and interfacial phenomena occurred in the droplet and bubble-based microfluidics world and ii) development of active manipulation strategies of micro droplets and bubbles for engineering applications.
