제목: AI와 로봇 기술을 이용한 소재 연구개발의 지능화 · 자동화
내용: Materials development is a laborious process that requires a long time and high cost. Since most of the resources are known to be concentrated on R&D phase, a lot of efforts have been exerted to rationalize conventional trial-and-error approach. When it comes to molecular discovery, high-throughput virtual screening and inverse design based on artificial-intelligence (AI) are typical examples and exhibiting their usefulness in many applications. However, experiments for the synthesis and evaluation of candidate molecules still serve as a major rate-limiting stage, as the level of automation is low and most of them have to be conducted by human researchers.
In this seminar, I will briefly introduce the global trend to accelerate the materials development, and then illustrate SAIT’s innovative approaches from materials discovery to autonomous robot platform to synthesize molecules, which have been done for the past years. The synthesis robot platform performs whole processes from synthetic planning to experiments with a closed-loop workflow. In this platform, diverse robots execute synthesis procedure cooperatively while overall strategic planning is performed by AIs.
